What happened in France disgusts and saddens me; but what disgusts me more and more is religion itself. I try very hard to believe that it has some use in the world; I have friends I love and family who believe. But I can not reconcile the bad that it does in any way. Religion sets up one thing and one thing only: they are not like us. Thus, it has any number of ways and reasons for people to hate each other. Men can be good without God. WIth God, many men will find reasons to divide from each other. Look at the history: nothing but bloodshed. Am I wrong here? If religion worked at all -- why is it such an incredible failure? What is the waste of life for? Dont tell me its politics. Its religion. When religion and faith work -- and there is much good that comes out of that -- why must we tie it to an eternal lie? For that is what it is. An eternal lie. Yes, Im going to hell. I am already in it. If the entirety of Vatican City gave up all their robes, and gold, and riches, and became mendicant again can you imagine what could be given back to the people who need it most? It is a farce that these leaders of faith cover themselves in such grandeur outwardly. Even in New York, its despicable to me to see thousands of men of the cloth who despise our very lives for any number of reasons -- we, the fallen black sheep -- dance around in their double-faced cloths. I dont know why this one act in France hit me so hard, but Im finished. Friends who believe, gladly unfriend me if you wish. But I am finished.
