What is happening in my Mumbai?? Is a fellow Mumbaikar now even worse than a terrorist? For me the audacity of the crime on the photographer intern is far more grave than that of some Kasab! Am a bit scared now and suddenly have a feeling that there is no more trust and faith that I can assume when my dear ones are out in this city…..to be honest it is very difficult to accept this for Mumbai, which we all have personally experienced to be the most safest city for both men and women...and where each Mumbaikar had stood by the other in times of crisis..be it blasts, attacks or floods. So what has changed? Reasons will be plenty... Infiltration, poverty, unemployment, no fear of law, etc... But all this will remain!.. we cannot change it even if we want to....So what do we do now?... treat this as just another crime? (Mumbai has to go on..it happens everyday in the north.. so its not a big deal!!) ... or take ownership and responsibility that we will have zero tolerance against any wrong behaviour which happens around us, be it with women, children or elders... the victim can be one of our own! I feel that in someway we are all responsible for what happened with the photographer intern...so what will you do next time when you see someone teasing or passing lewd remarks...when you see a fellow passenger in the bus trying to take undue advantage... when you see children being victimized or elders being ill-treated... Will you try to stop, make noise and make it clear that such behaviour will not be tolerated or since it is none of your busy business, just turn a blind eye to it?.....Please find your own answers...This is your Mumbai...and your actions are responsible for what happens here...
