What is the Ultimate Field Trip? "The Ultimate Field Trip" (bp/fieldtrip) is aimed at attracting the best and brightest early stage science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) undergraduates to BP. • It is a team-based competition for undergraduates studying science, technology, engineering and mathematics subjects. • Students form teams of 3 to tackle a real-life energy challenge; • The competition is aimed at 2nd to final year students. • The prize is a 2 week International fieldtrip with BP with winning teams from around the world. • The aim is to offer an unforgettable and life changing experience. • BP looks for a high level of rigor in submissions. Teams have to be able to prove that their ideas are practical, scalable, workable and financially viable. What is the Challenge? The problem: Energy companies consume large amounts of energy in running their operations. The challenge: More efficient use of energy Identify an innovative solution that will significantly reduce energy consumption and be implemented by 2025, with the potential to scale across the energy industry. Stage 2 December 2013 – The solution Submit your team’s idea on five slides. Stage 3 February 2014 – Semi Finals You’ll have submitted your technical poster and will present it to bpTT experts. Stage 4 March 2014 – The national final You’ll present your technical poster and film to bpTT Senior Executives before taking part in a Q&A session. After this, we’ll pick the winning team and award prizes to the runners up. Winners Summer 2014 The Ultimate Field Trip will take place in North America in summer 2014.
