What is the answer to a failing marriage? What about a failing - TopicsExpress

What is the answer to a failing marriage? What about a failing bank account? What about stress and trials? If any man is thirsty, let him COME to Me... John 7:37 The answer, to many, may be surprising. I remember a few years ago, when Steve Pfiester and I were REALLY struggling, I said we need to do a bible study together and pray together. He was so frustrated at that answer, as if Jesus was great, but he couldnt fix us. We had a marriage problem. We had issues. We needed counseling - or worse, we needed to divorce. Steve was sure Id never change. Fast forward to last year. Steve was finally miserable enough to try God for real this time. Sadly, we often use God as a last resort - only to figure out our way doesnt turn out like we thought it would. Low and behold, God got straight to work! First, we just showed up out of obedience, even just showing up (at home, staying married). We kept showing up. We studied, we prayed, we went to church every time the doors were open. We enrolled in every Bible study there was (I admit, it was a little overkill lol) but we were complete sold out and surrendered. And God honored that - and started blessing our socks off. God began to change Steves heart. God started to give him such a great love for me. And as he started loving me more, I also started wanting to be the woman he needed, more than ever. (PS: its much easier to respect and trust a man to lead, when the man is following Gods lead. It just melts a womans heart. I mean, if he is going to live life to make God pleased, you know hes going to be the man you need - and vice versa) #justsaying After a few short weeks Steve said these powerful words, I didnt have a marriage problem, I had a Christ problem. He admittedly quit living a life pleasing to God and was living for himself. I wasnt far behind him - putting Steve as my god and my selfishness before God too. Work came first before family, church and doing what is right. So we started getting our priorities back in order and put God back where He belonged - on the throne, behind the wheel, King of our life, our marriage, our finances, our business. I posted this scripture on my fridge while we waited for change to happen, I am the LORD, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me? Jeremiah 32:27. We leaned on that promise and He delivered. Nothing is too difficult for God. His resources are endless. We began to see one miracle after another - and He isnt even close to being done yet. I share this, not to brag on us and how great our marriage is. We are far from perfect and still have a lot of work to do. BUT I share this to brag on how great God is. Both of us literally walk around in AWE of what God has done in the last year. We are amazed at our love for each other. We cant believe how much our life has changed. God still is in the miracle business. No counselor, no amount of money, no plan of your own can compare to Gods ways and His plan. I dare you to put your trial in His hands and watch Him go to work. Hes ready, Hes just waiting on you. Dont wait for things to get better on their own. Dont wait to get your life right. Start showing up. Come He said. Come. Im so glad we did.
