“What is the difference between an obstacle and an opportunity? Our attitude toward it. Every opportunity has a difficulty, and every difficulty has an opportunity.” ―J. Sidlow Baxter Aluta greetings to all the dogged, rugged and ever konibaje OOUITES.. I (com.igwe uche aka ochman) salute the courage, motivation, participation and contribution of the student union of our great citadel of learning led by com. Ifade segun aka socialist. Firstly, in the #bringdownourschoolfees struggle and agitation beginning from the time of consultation and conslidation,we (OOUITES) were in a 50/50 decision, that is the student union really going to fight for the reduction or are they trying to play fast one on us on our school fees issue, the OOUITES I believed that was the question in our minds.. Moving down to the time of boycotting of 2days lecture, showing as a warning to the government and management of great citadel of learning.the OOUITES were moved to force for a GA(General Assembly) to be held in makin decisions and giving out our opinons, since the 2days boycot of lecture was not enough threat to the government and management. The GA took place and was held at a very crutial time which was slated by the student union in as much not to make a majority at the GA..in the long run and with the help of the CDHR organisation(Committee for the defence of human right) which made the GA be filled with a majority, because according to the constitution, before any opinion or decisions can valid, a majority must support and the voice of the majority is final. To the greatest surprise at the GA many forms of action came up so as to interupt the GA not making it a successful one,but the God of Aluta interven and everything went peacefully.. The voice of the majority was heard that the protest should start on tuesday, while some chanted wednesday not knowing that the student union had already typed their own agenda I.e making decisions for the majority at the GA which does not follow the constitution saying the protest should keep off on thursday in likes of Eben(Gen sec),Feranze(asst gen sec),walerio(pro) and also the former Masscom president his name withheld, were making it hard for the decisions to be made in final on which day the protest will kick off... At the end the union made the decision for the studentw hich was not suppose to be and made a conclusion that it should take place on thursday, meanwhile as a comrade we try to make things known to president, instead he asked his CSO to match the CDHR coordinator in person of com.james ogunjimi and also com. Bolu from law faculty... There is a saying that goes like this.. The patient dog eat the fattest bone.we(OOUITES waited patiently for thursday to come and that day came and everybody being alive to witness that day... At about 7:30am on thursday about 20students were on ground who were ready to hit oke-mosan for a peace protest. At about 8am the crowd begin to gather in a large number,in absent of most of the Student union members both the CEC and SHS,mean while it was suppose to be the union president that was suppose the be on ground so as to motivate the student the more.at around 8:30am the union president arrived.. We(OOUITES) were happy to see him not knowing the preparation for transportation was not made adequately,I laughed and shook my head and said lack of proper preparation, thats what they lack from the on set.... It was a big slap to our face the OOUiTES despite the numbers of buses that convey student in to the school for lectures not adequately provided and also for we to have to call TAUSED for their own buses to convey us to oke-mosan... About 4000students were on ground at mini campus where the take off point was waiting for transportation, but non to no avail.we move down to chips garage waiting patiently, when the union president told us that TAUSED buses are on their to convey us to oke-mosan Many left with the little proivison of bus on ground, about 2000student were still waiting for transportation at the main campus under the sun. When there was no other means,we had to stop trailers and plead with the drivers to take us to oke- mosan, even hiajcked any school buses that is coming out from the school. Information got to us that com.clement has ordered some thugs to attack our student who were already at oke-mosan.few were In injured one among was the newly elected SMS faculty president com. Omo- akin on the head. Despite the frustration from every angle we still stand on ourpeaceful protest which led us sleeping over till the next day.. I will drop my pen here for this is season1.. My take: Questions for SUG 1.Why they make decisions without the opinion of the student? 2. GA was suppsoe to be called for or rather the OOUITES opinion that was opened,so is that a waste? 3. If we dont sacrifice now, when will we sacrifice? 4. Despite the stress in this struggle what is our gain? 5. Had it been people died,is this our we would just give up? Watchout for season2..OOU struggle Viva Aluta Sewto mewto Dear to struGgle, dear to win Long live oou Long live ogun state Long nigeria Signed: com.igwe uche aka ochman
