What was supposed to be a relaxing day, catching up on some rest & household chores, turned out to be a day spent going to Topeka & back. While trying to schedule a follow-up visit with Dr. Dimitriu his nurse decided that Mike needed to be seen today. Within the first 5 minutes of going over they symptoms Mike has been having he was able to determine very confidently that not only did Mike have a PE (clot in lung) but he also had a clot back in his left renal artery. Hence the 18# weight gain in 1 week, the increase in BP & the headache (knowing MRI & CT scan were normal). Your kidneys help control your blood pressure. Todays Mikes BP was down a bit than it has been for the last week. Dr. D is hopeful that his kidneys will return to normal, the bp will continue to go down (we will adjust meds as it does) and the headache will go away. If not we will follow up with a sono of the kidneys. Mike & I feel a weight has been lifted & we can breath again as we finally got some answers & are on a path. Knowing we are on a new blood thinner that will keep his blood thin until his body & vessels have time to heal properly.
