Whatever good we have attained is by the grace of God. The fact that we are Christians today is Gods gift. Our physical and spiritual abilities come from God: not ourselves. Power doesnt reside within us, but comes from external force bigger than we are. The second council of Orange (529) teaches us: If anyone asserts that by his natural strength he is able to think as is required or choose anything good pertaining to his eternal salvation, or to assent to the saving message of the Gospel without the illumination and inspiration of the Holy Spirit, he is deceived by the heretical spirit and does not understand the word said by God in the Gospel: APART FROM ME, YOU CAN DO NOTHING( Jn 15:5) NOT THAT WE ARE COMPETENT OF OURSELVES TO CLAIM ANYTHING AS COMING FROM US; OUR COMPETENCE IS FROM GOD (2Cor 3:5). We are not responsible to fix our world, but can rely on a big God that does amazing things to be able to make a success of our situations. There is temptation of thinking that we have succeeded by our strength. But that is one big lump of pride hovering within our hearts. If we have done anything good; when we accomplish any success; when we manifest any gift, it is the grace of God that does all these for us. Phil 4:13 says, We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. The strength of God is the reason for good things we do. This should push us to prayer. May God give us power to achieve greater things in our life in Jesus name.
