When I was a child, maybe ten or eleven. I told my Grandpa that I loved him. This statement clearly challenged him as a man from his generation would not express his love in this fashion. He stammered, as was his fashion when confronted with something new and perhaps to him ... uncomfortable. His response ... ahh, well, ahh ... Well , I am very fond of you too son. I called him a month or so ago and he was pleasantly surprised as I did not call him often and I found it necessary to turn over a new leaf and call him on a more regular basis. We chatted for a bit and I ended the conversation with I love you Grandpa. He replied ... I love you too son. Goodbye Grandpa I wish you well on your new journey and I will always remember you with fondness and love.
