When I was re-watching Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind last - TopicsExpress

When I was re-watching Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind last night I noticed that the director Michel Gondry had done something that I absolutely love, the telling of a story with little or no words as possible. Ive always held that the best film-making is one that shows and doesnt tell. There is a scene where Jim Carreys character is going into wait for a consultation. If you look at the other patients in the waiting room you can tell by the items they are bringing in what they are at this clinic for and who they are trying to forget. Theres a woman with her items from her dog and another man has trophies and you can assume he may have lost his son and is trying to forget him because its a painful memory. Its truly amazing film making choices like that, that lead to a better movie. In fact you almost wish you could know what happened to those people even though they dont go into any details.
