When do YOU become involved with your children’s education! That is the question going through my mind tonight. As all School Boards face challenges on our kids’ education, when is it appropriate for parents to raise concerns! That is the true question of the night. The follow up question is, do the School boards actually listen or just shut down to parents concerns. I, personally, have found that boards say that if no one shows up, no cares. But if parents do show up the boards go quiet. It is a line that all government boards walk but isn’t the good wellbeing of the school, good for the wellbeing of the community! In the same token if voices are raise against the board actions should those voices be silent or punished? I have learned that all schools that have fostered pride and involvement in the communities have strong support! But only with involvement of all the community and work of the community. Is this the simple reason why some communities are strong and other are more transient? Just points to ponder in the new year!
