Whenever events happen that put the focus on Muslims, we should - TopicsExpress

Whenever events happen that put the focus on Muslims, we should not feel disheartened or aggrieved. These incidents have repeatedly proven to ignite curiosity and led people on a search that has resulted in them embracing Islam. The rate of people converting to Islam skyrocketed after 9/11 even though you would think it would be the opposite. Allah is capable of producing a positive outcome out of a negative situation. Whilst living in a non-Muslim country surrounded by non-Muslims, we need to question ourselves and ask how many of us are active in dawah? And I am not talking about standing in front of hundreds of people and speaking about Islam, but rather working within your capabilities to educate those around you about Islam. How many times have you actually called people towards Islam? What is it that prevents us from this duty? Is it a sense of embarrassment? A sense that religion is taboo to talk about? Or simply not knowing how to initiate a discussion? Dawah is the best of deeds and the best of speech. “And who is better in speech than one who invites to Allah and does righteousness and says, Indeed, I am of the Muslims.” [41:33] The sahaba and the righteous after them did not simply say ‘I am a good Muslim because I pray and fast and give zakat but rather they spent their entire life in the propagation of this religion. How sad is it that we can live next door to a person for 20 or 30 years yet they never hear a word about Islam from us? Dawah is generally not a means that provides a person with instant gratification. You may never see the fruits of your labour, yet your reward will be with Allah. You will be met with rejection and have your ideals and principles challenged, but your job is to plant the seed that can trigger a soul-searching journey that will inshallah gradually lead to Islam. Do not ever think that I am not even going to bother giving dawah to this person because Hell will freeze over before he embraces Islam! The sahabah radiallahu anhum said the same thing about Umar Ibn Al-Khattab. Many of the best people who embraced Islam were the worst enemies of Islam. Ultimately guidance is in the hands of Allah and our duty is simply to convey the message. May Allah SWT bless us with the strength and patience to propagate His religion and make us a means of guiding people to la ilaha ila Allah, ameen.
