Where are the priorities of this Jubilee Government??? Before people who know nothing about football and have never even gone to see one local match get over the moon........... Former Harambee Stars skipper Dennis Oliech has cast aspersions on President Uhuru Kenyattas initiative to sponsor a group of squad to watch the ongoing World Cup in Brazil. Oliech who has been in the country on holiday alluded to the fact that he was of the opinion watching the matches in Brazil would not add value and that there were more tangible projects in Kenyan football that would have done with the sponsorship. It is not a bad idea to sponsor the team to Brazil but tell me where does it happen in this World? I believe we have other pertinent issues that needs immediate solutions because how can we explain the federation withdrawing the under 17 team from a Caf competition,” Oliech posed. We have to embark on sustainable football project that will encompass the whole nation by ensuring they help in setting up strong youth structures. I feel this gesture is a Public Relations affair and it would be paramount to note that the players haven’t been paid their entire allowance from the Comoros match, Oliech told supersport. Imagine if the president would have paid for an international friendly with big teams like Portugal? That would have given us the exposure they need to be able to work hard and qualify first for the elusive Afcon, he added. President Kenyatta lived to his promise after Kenya won the 2013 Cecafa Senior Challenge cup he promised to sponsor their trip to Brazil for the World Cup. The president gave a personal donation of $120,000 while EABL the team sponsors gave $40,000 in a function at the Nairobi State house. © supersport Print #WorldCup2014 #WorldCup #Brazil2014
