Where do I begin with Stacy?? Another long story that Ill try to keep short. At the camp orientation, Stacy, a young Belizean woman, was introduced to our group as someone who would be helping us at camp. We were told about her amazing artistic talent and how excited our group leader was to have her with us. Immediately I discerned a gaping need and my heart was drawn to minister to her. The next day, I sat down to eat with her and asked her what type of art she prefers. She told me that she works with pencils and I asked if I could see her work. She began to show me her artwork and she wanted to make sure I understood that she draws what she feels. This statement was a bit revealing, because although her work was beautiful, it was evident that it came from a heart filled with pain. For the next hour of talking and discussing about her art, it became clear that God was up to something in her life and I was excited to be able to play a small part in the chapters to come, the blank, ready to draw pages of pencil poetry in her sketch book. As I asked her about each piece, you could see the hurt in her heart manifest to her face. God guided us into deep conversation and so we began a back and forth that would continue for the next few days. Many hours of real talk conversation took place between Stacy and I, until Friday morning, the conclusion of camp. Day by day, talk by talk, FREEDOM began to usurp bondage. Her eyes went from a hopeless squint to a wide opened joy. Her smile, which seemed rehearsed and forced, blossomed into ear to ear liberty. While I wish it were possible to share exactly how The Spirit moved and transformed my new found friend, I find myself only able to tell you that it was flat out mind blowing. One of the sweetest things of all, I was given the blessing of baptizing her in the jungle river that runs along the backside of the camp!!! Oh, not to mention, Stacy has already begun the NEW chapters of her pencil poetry. She has drawn two beautiful pictures, poured out from a redeemed and joyful heart :) I look forward to the relationship that I will get to build with her and the friendship in our future. TO GOD BE ALL GLORY, HONOR & PRAISE!!!
