While I didnt do everything I wanted to yesterday (apparently Im not super human and getting home at 4am is not conducive to hiking at Cumberland Falls at 7:30am), I did visit with my family and get farm chores finished before making it to the get together I was invited to in Oneida. While I was unsure what to expect, I have to say I had a great time. The 6ish hours I spent with those delightful people seemed more like 2. I met many interesting souls with fascinating stories and tidbits to share about themselves. But the last part of the evening, sitting around the fire in an old fashioned high-back chair and talking between my friends singing old Appalachian songs (some religious and some hilarious) to an autoharp was intoxicating. I really didnt want to leave. I felt like Bilbo Baggins at Rivendell listening to elvish singing while he/I almost nodded off to sleep. Given my history, there are few times that I can remember where I felt at complete peace with the world. Last night was one of them. I am very grateful that I was invited.
