While I far prefer to take the subway, Ive been taking cabs since 1990. Ive had good rides and bad rides, and even some hair-raisingly (is that a word??) dangerous rides back in the days of the Squeegee Men. But today, drum roll, I rode in what I can only call a Drivers Ed Cab. Egads. First, Im standing right there, plain as day, and he didnt see me. But all of the sudden he jerked the wheel and pulled over. I slide in and there are two GIANT guys in the front (you never see more than one driver in a cab!) of the teeny tiny (energy efficient) cab. It was as comical as it was startling. But whatever. I close the door and off we go. Sort of. Floor it, brake hard. Then stop in the middle of an intersection. But at the end of the ride, when he/they did manage to get me home, the driver turned around with the biggest smile I had ever seen and thanked me for riding with him. I couldnt help but smile back. #stillenthusiastic
