While I knew this was staged, I thought it was kind of sad, as it truly reflects the attitude of so many of the young and able have toward the slow and aged. However I did not take it personally, Im not old yet am I? Yeah, my back injury and my lame shoulder make me a little slow lately, but....? Then just today I got a wake up call. Its cold and rainy outside, I kept my gloves on inside for awhile to warm up my hands. I was trying to close a door and my slippery gloved fingers did not grasp it very well, just then a lovely, talented, popular young teen girl came along, seeing me grasping at the door and seeing my grey hair she decided she needed to instruct me; you should probably go ahead and close the door all the way. Then without thinking to give me an assist she went on her merry way. I felt like my intelligence had been insulted, and my age disrespected. And I felt sad for this beautiful young teen that she is growing up with an attitude of self importance and disrespect of the elderly.
