Why I’m pissed this Morning!!! The Price of Service As many of you know, last Saturday afternoon I hosted a movie event for the youth in Our Community. The event was held at the Wesley Community Center on the west side of Dayton, -The Westwood neighborhood. I rented the room there with money out of my own pocket, $60 for 4 hours. The event was great, the children had a great time. We had food at the event and it quickly became apparent that these children were hungry (More on that later). I saw and see the extreme needs that our children have. The following Monday (yesterday) I went back to The Wesley Center to reserve the same room for a November date and to my surprise the rates had quadrupled to $60 per hour. Who in Westwood can afford that rate??? I was completely caught off Guard! I left there confused, discourage, and just thrown off. Last night I did not sleep very well. I thought about the children in our community and how obvious it was that these children were not eating at home. Many of us claim God, but the results we produce don’t show the power of the God we claim to know. I know I must do more and Lord willing I will do more. But right now, I’m pissed that The Wesley Community Center threw up a block to my progress in service. Typically I wouldn’t publicly blast anyone like this, but HELL it’s war time and I’m a Soldier.
