Why am I purple? Im standing in solidarity with my friends who are fasting to protest homeless hate laws in Fort Lauderdale, FL. By going purple on Facebook Im showing my support for Thursday Addams, Jillian Pim, Samantha Portis, Dezeray Lyn, Chris Mince, Bettejo Passalaqua, Root Robin and Feral Peterson. There is a heinous law in place that prohibits the distribution of food to the homeless. Our society needs to provide more resources for people of lesser means and to effectively direct them towards these resources. Building the infrastructure to assist people with barriers to becoming self-sufficient members of our society is where the answer lies, not in enacting laws that punish people for providing basic human rights to those in need. Im supporting Thursday, Jill and many others in their acts of civil disobedience and for taking a stand against class oppression. I hope youll join me.
