Why are human beings born and what is the reason behind creation - TopicsExpress

Why are human beings born and what is the reason behind creation of human life? Modern science, messengers led by spirits and angels in the sky have their own versions. The concept of evolution of human life as propounded by Sanatana Dharma emphasises the mental and spiritual evolution of human life on this earth. Human birth is nothing but the beginning of death itself, the tapering waste begins in man’s exit from the womb and his mortal being ending in the tomb. In the interim the Divine subjects man to its play-house in the hope that there is realisation of a non-static life and the pure consciousness which has been there before, now and forever. Modern science emphasises on simple life forms, evolution of the human brain and biological and mental mechanisms. Theories are abound and one scientist would not agree with another; neither do religious institutions. They have a prejudiced view, which they claim copyright to some complex continuous process. This again is subject to questioning the inherent doubts. Sanatana Dharma simply says this: That at birth man is both ignorant and silent. At various stages man is to achieve a state of illumination progressively. Sanatana Dharma emphasises on the evolution of the subtle body as opposed to the gross body. In summary there are three stages – consisting of formation and development of individual centres of consciousness driven by instinct and natural impulse; consolidation of personalities into individual egos influenced by desires, the need to survive and the Dharma of ongoing or repeated births and deaths and; the most important stage consisting of the development of the awareness that leads to gradual surrender and dissolution of the ego – realisation of the Self “Satchitananda swarupa” – ie Truth, Consciousness and Bliss. Hence our subtle body is the unique expression of this holistic vision. Modern science tries to maintain the balance of the physical world by subjecting all life to the forces of nature. Sanatana Dharma gives a wider perspective of universal scale by explaining the manifest forms of life, not just the earth alone but the evolution of the cosmos – the different planes of reality and consciousness. These planes of consciousness were existing before and would exist forever. The backdrop to human life would be to have the wisdom to realize the facades and follies and attempt liberation from the bonds of nature and its dominance. Thus Sanatana Dharma interprets evolution from within and without, acknowledges nature’s mechanism and the Divine agenda of the liberation of the soul – ‘moksha’ and escape further cycles of birth. Despite the omnipresence of human and cosmic consciousness, man is not without encumbrances to legitimate ends of life. The path to Divine purity is paved with human impurities and surrounding perceptions of ‘maaya’. Inherent in the material world is the path of desire, pleasure, glamour, pomp and ceremony. The worldly success path is paved with wealth, power and fame. Threats and pains of poverty drives us back to materialism which seems to be the subjective formula for human quality. The path of renunciation too has been side-tracked for fame and glory often leading one back to the path of desire and fame. The Dharma of duty is seen in the modern context of wages, money and competition. The hopelessness of these paths hereinbefore mentioned leaves the last golden path – path of Liberation. Sanatana Dharma outines this as Being, Awareness and finally Liberation ‘Moksha.’ It is the complete release from the countless human limitations and restrictions which impinge upon the very essence of human existence. We are unique expressions of this consciousness. Sanatana Dharma explains the process as one of reverse order – externalisation of consciousness process of the cosmological descent on humans and its ultimate return to the Absolute. Human conscience has been endowed on man to prompt him to choose the right path to traveling inwards to seek the truth. That is a Vedic curriculum – the ultimate cosmic Truth. This Self-enquiry leading to liberation of consciousness, its return and gradual communion with the Absolute has been the essence of Sanatana Dharma. Om Prem Shaanti :-)
