Wiggle wiggle wiggle Squats have been stereotyped as the glute exercise, however depending on what type of squat rep range, weight and angle of movement will determine the muscles you are targeting. Back Squats are a pinnacle compound movement so firstly you will be targeting a number of muscle groups at once. Above I am working at 80% of max weight with reps of 4-6 by 5 sets. I am only squat to parallel which places an emphasis on my quads and lower reps aims to build strength and FAST TWITCH muscle I.e to improve speed and explosiveness. If I were to focus on a more aesthetic movement I would squat past paralled to increase my range of motion and target more hamstring and glute. I would also decrease my weight to about 70% max rep and increase reps to about 8-12/ 5 or so sets. *stay tuned for a technical video #squats #lifting #compoundmovement #ehplabs #theunit
