Cork “Be still, and know that I am God” Greetings friends, both near and far, Brisbane Sydney Seattle Chicago Berlin Turin Edinburgh Paris Dublin Cavan and everywhere… Again I find myself rescuing valuable minutes and hours to put pen to paper as we count down to Christmas. Time seems to be slipping by faster each year. I hope this note finds you well. 2014 for me has been a year to reflect on years past. For a change I did not travel abroad, instead enjoyed being a tourist in Dublin and called to my friends and family in the Dublin area and also up in Ulster. This year say the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of world war one. My dads uncles served in France and Uncle Jim even enjoyed the Xmas Truce In 1917 when Bavaria soldiers extended their friendship by offering food. Jim survived the way and I knew him up to my early teenage years. His brother Will returned home spring 2018 suffering from gas poisoning and died some time later. My dad was named after his late uncle. Early summer I enjoyed joining German friends in Clonakilty watching the Brazil based World Cup. Thanks Peter for being such an enthusiastic German supporter. In late summer I eventually got to visit the Titanic Centre in Belfast. Its worth giving yourself four hours to enjoy the experience. 2014 was a year meeting new friends and also saying goodbye.
