With great anticipation, remembering all the huge crabs caught last week, Capt Williecrab and Madison Rose (actual) cruised at full creek warp speed toward Weir Creek aboard the C.E.S. Madison Rose. The ship was also ready for perch, and was well stocked with bloodworms and fowl necks. The weather was fantastic. The tide was however, way to high. The crew worked hard moving from spot to spot. Miss Maddiecrab now in her 3’rd year of crabbing, worked the nets, lines, bow anchor, her fishing pole and traps with ease. The current was fierce. Nothing was caught until the ship anchored near Turkey Point. Four huge female crabs came in on handlines, and Madison Rose (actual) caught a nice perch. The crew headed behind Fortescue. Grandpa caught a decent jimmy, then the ship navigated even closer to Fortescue. Grandpa nailed a monster perch, a little over 11 inches. Maddie added a couple of perch. Madison Rose (actual) also caught a bunch of sea bass, drum, to small to keep. Grandpa caught a couple small stripers. That was it. Total take home, 5 crabs and 4 perch. The crew had a great time together, and Maddie got to drive her ship. The Capt has no idea where those monster jimmys caught just 2 and 3 days ago have gone. The ship covered a lot of area, and a lot of places fished and crabs, big game just was not found by this crew. Back at home base, the catch was cooked up. Cindycrab cooked perch, and they were perfect. Grandpa cooked the crabs, and they also were perfect, just not enough. Still, it was a blessed day on the Autumn Creeks. Madison Rose (actual) did a great job. She is so much fun to have on the ship. Capt Williecrab feels so blessed and grateful today, as this was the first trip with just Miss Maddiecrab and he.
