With horses you get amazing highs but also crashing lows, today was one of those days when we had to say goodbye to the two longest standing members of the yard Django and Rio who have made their final journey over the rainbow bridge to the evergreen field in the sky. It was a completely heartbreaking decision but both had reacted the end of their lives and their quality of life was starting to deteriorate, Django with cushings and subsequent laminitis and Rio to arthritis. Django we have owned since he was 4 weeks old and has taken me to Hickstead in dressage and jumping and was my first proper horse, he then gave Alison many happy years after he had reached his limit with me. Rio was my mums whom she trained to PSG and had a great talent for piaffe, although was his default if anything went wrong! He then spend his last years giving schoolmaster lessons and gave so many people so much joy learning their first flying change of half steps. Its never easy saying goodbye to any horse and they will be always missed but fondly remembered, enjoy your days boys, gone but never forgotten xxxx
