With so many recent cases of individuals coming forward and sharing their traumatic experiences of abuse, we at the ACT Group have a tough topic to talk about today. What kind of language should we be using when we talk about such sensitive and personal topics? We all use words like ‘victim, pedophile and perpetrator’, but what do these words really mean? And are we using language effectively to instill a sense of healing and strength in those who were hurt, and conversely, what purpose does negative language have which could impact on recovery?
