With the recent real fall temperatures: Our customers have been asking us, How long does a carbon monoxide detector last until it should be replaced? The CO detector should be replaced when the manufacturers warranty expires. Most carbon monoxide detectors have a 3 or 5 year warranty from the date of purchase, depending on the manufacturer. An easy tip to remember when it should be replaced: Write the expiration date on the wall facing side of the detector in permanent marker when you purchase and/or install you carbon monoxide detector. Every year when you replace the batteries (as recommended) you will see and be reminded of the replacement date. If you have a great tip on how to remember carbon monoxide replacement and smoke detector battery replacement - feel free to share!
