Woohoo! Just had a phone call from the oncology nurse at the hospital. This would previous have been impossible because NHS staff couldnt dial the 18002 prefix to connect to the operator system. I have a new number linked to my landline beginning 03 and through my minicom I can now receive calls from NHS numbers yipee! The nurse was delighted too. Woohoo! You can read more about it following the link on how to get a text-number linked to your landline. It means people dont need to dial 18002 anymore. ngts.org.uk/textnumber_index.php Of course the NHS still needs to be flexible as not all Deaf people have a minicom. There still needs to be room for contact via mobile text, email, fax (some people still have a fax machine) and through an interpreter phone service which we dont have at the moment.
