Worship - Greek to posture as a dog and in Hebrew to serve . . . Please add the Biblical words/terms to the discussion of worship. Jesus was worshipped regularly without music of any kind. What changed lives was a personal encounter with Him; confession, needs expressed, and words from Him like go and sin no more. In Hebrew lifting Him up is the expression used in the Psalms as part of an expression of worship. But it is primarily in ones service, or work, or life one lives. So the hand represents ones deed in the Jewish Old Testament and lifting up ones hands is offering to God what you have been doing. Very beautiful and with or without the music. Music does not, and cannot, make worshippers. It can only accompany a worshipper in his or her service of Him. Real worship is a life lived with God and for God. Everything else is an emotional ritual in need of real life. Emotions must not be used as a substitute for the real life of Jesus flowing through His people; but it is an expression of the life itself. We lift Him up by telling Him WHY we are lifting Him up. And telling Him is a form of worship and praise.
