Wow! What a ride! The Women of Distinction award is over. After a full day of reflexion and unwinding, I am ready to share my feelings. I was NOT chosen as the winner in my category the other night. But yet the winners feeling is in me, is right in my heart! What is a winner? I keep asking myself. Accomplishment? Experience? Giving? Learning? Moving forward? Who would have thought that I would be sharing the stage with some of the most fine, amazing and inspirational ladies in Edmonton? 14 years ago I started my life all over again in a new country with a new husband in a new language! In 14 years I created a happy place that offers colour, safety and self-esteem to women all ages and sizes with the help and support of 12 staff members that they are family to me! In 14 years I learned to give, to volunteer, to share which was not part of my culture. Oh God! What an amazing country! What an amazing opportunity in life! But guess what? Non of this would happened if it wasnt because of Eli Konsolos, my husband. Hes been the biggest gift in my life. He believed in me! He got me to be the very best version of myself! He helped me to help, to learn, to be more patient. He helped me to understand that the world is a place of opportunities, and our mission is to do things to make it better with the tools we were gifted with. So next time when somebody ask me how the Women of distinction went I will say Edmonton won! Each one of us nominees, our families, our communities won! This time I wasnt chosen because there is more work to be done! Thank you Edmonton for your generosity, your support and for being so including! Lets keep winning together Edmonton!! Cheers! #wodyeg @ywcaedmonton
