X, to me, was the epitome of the LA scene in the early to mid 80s, much like the Ramones, and the Dolls were to New York. They, like Fante, Bukowski, Grapes, wrote poetry driven by the blood in, blood out, Love /Hate relationship with The Lost, The Drunken, Bored, and Restless L.A. Woman, known as the City of Los Angeles. Put that against the background of country, blues, folk, and a hard Schaefer Beer guzzling, Lucky Strike means fine rockabilly riffs, and you have one of the most genuine facets that was the early L.A. Punk scene, John Doe, Exene Cervenka, DJ Bonebrake, and that slick cat known as Billy Zoom, the True Saints of LA in that time, known as ...X (Notice their producer in the background, his band held the Woman, before X did, Ray Manzarek of The Doors)
