YESTERDAY, LINCOLN MIDDLE SCHOOL HOSTED A MOVING TRIBUTE TO OUR MEN AND WOMEN AT ARMS TO COMMEMORATE VETERAN’S DAY. Mayor Hank Castillon read the Presidential Veteran’s Day Proclamation and gave the opening remarks. Castillon is a retired U.S. Army Brigadier General with over 36 years combined active and reserve service. He served in the Republic of Vietnam as an officer and has held command leadership positions at the company, battery, battalion, brigade, and garrison level. He also served as Commander of the Wyoming Army National Guard and Assistant Adjutant General. Larry Holler, a local activist on behalf of Veterans, also spoke to the audience and honored Karly Jo Eyre, a Combat Engineer in the Army National Guard serving as a Bridge Crew member for 1041st based in Rock Springs Wyoming. Eyre graduated from Charlie Company 35th Engineering Battalion with honors from Army OSUT on Friday, August 15th, 2014. She spent 16 weeks in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. She graduated with honors because she had the highest score in the platoon (346 out of 300) on her Army physical fitness test beating a platoon of 160 males and 4 females. The tests included a 2-minute sit-up, 2-minute push-up, and a 2-mile run. As a result, Karly carried the Company Guidon leading her platoon.
