Yellowstone Caldera Earthquake: Several issues here. Yes, the foreshocks - quake - aftershocks all epicentered near an edge of the Caldera. The depths of those shocks dont correspond to the depth of the magma chamber beneath the Caldera, so it is extremely unlikely magma is moving towards the surface. IF there were a Mega eruption, all life within 1000 miles or so would effectively be killed if it couldnt get out of the way. Ash and dust would enter the upper atmosphere and stay suspended for far more than decades and would have substantial impacts on weather and temperatures all over the northern hemisphere and that dust would eventually propogate (sic) south of the equator and cause similar impacts there. While it might not be an Extinction Level Event, it would result in a grossly damaged ecosystem worldwide with mass dying of species up and down the food chain. This is far worse than nuclear war and nuclear winter. This is the kind of thing that starts a 50,000 year long ice age.
