Yes it true our retired Military Working Dogs receive no benefits - TopicsExpress

Yes it true our retired Military Working Dogs receive no benefits upon retirement, however, two occasions this past month there has been fundraising that were scams. Do not believe everything you see on facebook, do not donate for any cause, war dog or otherwise without completely researching the source. here are some guidelines for people to follow that can help spot the scams. Any scams that you discover, please let us know asap. If you would like one of our admins to research for you (cause your busy) send a copy of the fb link to mitravinda@hotmail and a person will be put in charge of doing the research, or if you would like to do yourself: 1. is there a human name and contact information? Call the owner and get the facts by phone, not a facebook post 2. what is the direct phone number to the treating veterinarian. Ask the vet what is the war dogs diagnosis? 3. If MWD, what military base did they retire from? 4. Call that military bases canine kennels to ask if a dog by that name and serial number was ever stationed at that location. 5. Ask the military kennel to give a description of the dog, if the military says the dog was a German Shepherd and the facebook photos are of a Labrador Retriever its wrong. 6. Ask for the serial number of that dog, you can call Lackland AFB canine kennels to verify if that serial number exists, there are no duplicates. 7. If MWD ask the veterinarian (not the owner) if there is a tattoo in the dogs left ear 8. If CWD ask owner the name of the Contractor and the Contractors contact information, the Contractor can verify a CWD by the records they keep. CWDs do not have the tattoo 9. Ask the owner for a digital copy of war dogs medical records that show proof of their last military base, serial number and name. Why people feel the need to cheat, scam and deceive fundraising when there are real war dogs that are in need, our war dogs have already made a great sacrifice for our freedom to be cashed in on. We will not stop fundraising for war dogs that do need help but we will most certainly investigate every request to ensure its not a hoax or a lie.
