Yes well i know you all think i have really tripped out on my magic tomatoes,so now perhaps you will sympathise with my car after my `bong`petrol funnel i made & i hadn`t even eaten magic tomatoes then...........VBG Well i thought i was being really innovative/clever..........but bugger me dead i ended up as red faced as one of my magic tomatoes.......OMG....... My fuel gauge on the Abbey-Mobile is not always reliable lately & as i was tired after the dog show on Sunday,i didn`t stop to get petrol & then thought to myself........,`myself..you should have stopped & gotten fuel because this gauge is looking awfully depleted & what happens if you run out of fuel half way to the `local` shops/ petrol station?.` So unable to find my proper fuel funnel together with a lot of cussing , realised i had a container of identical fuel for my ride on mower,i scratched the old saw dust pile & after considering all of the dimensions,the neon light bulb came on & so i proceeded to make my own .One always has to learn to improvise in the country i was taught........... I covered all of the angles or so i thought. Grabbed a plastic cordial bottle & a length of brand new hose after realising the spout of the bottle was much too wide for the petrol pump orifice where the funnel spout had to fit. Upstairs again to get some good masking tape to seal the hose to the cordial bottle & after admiring my ingenious handiwork i was ready to trial run my home made funnel & I stuck the `hose ` of the funnel into the cars petrol tank hole. Realising rather belatedly, it might be down a bit too farinto the tank & the hose possibly kinked...well you never know.....i tried to pull the length of hose back a bit & Bullcrap .........can you believe the hose jammed ? Try as i might ,the steel return flap into the tank would not release to let me push or pull the hose. Well these old pins carved a trail up & down to the house with the gums bumping ,fetching & trying different tools & knives trying to release this steel flap who hung on to that hose shoved in it ,like rodeo rider on a bucking bronco!!!!!!! I swear it had a personal vendetta against me & was not going to release with a fierce determination to show me a wasn`t so bloody smart with my ingenious inventions after all.In all reality ,i had just reached that very same decision!!!!!!! So after several minutes of evaluating what would be the best thing to do,i cut a length off my `bong`.... funnel tank side of the bottle.... ,tucked it inside the locked fuel tank cavity & decided to take the risk & drive down to my local mechanic mate & fess up to what i had done...surely that wouldn`t cost me ,because he would be relating this story & milking it for all its worth for free laughs & entertainment among the locals....... Can`t you just read the local headlines in our little country community?????? `Crazy Marmar from The Funny Farm who grows her magic tomato plant in concrete & makes a multi purpose `bong funnel`!!!!! Well it didn`t shock our Dave at all...he is my discreet, lovable hero now....he thought it was comical & he had the section of hose out in double quick time... with big extended pointy nosed pliers ...laughing at my predicament but assuring me, that my `bong` funnel would be one of the nicer things or apparatuses he has seen jammed into fuel tanks,yeah well the mind boggles at that revelation! Well at least it scored me a big cuddle from my obliging mechanic & i quickly scampered across to the petrol bowser trying my best to look non plussed ....Geeeeeeeeeeeze i was glad to drive out of there before one of the locals found out ,as i already have quite a reputation...undeserved i am sure VBG.... at our other little local shops!ROTFLMAO So the moral of the story is that you DON`T used a cordial bottle & a garden hose to make a` bong type funnel`,you use semi rigid metal piping to the tank flang does not jam on it ,but better still you stop at the petrol station & get fuel no matter how tired you are.
