Yesterday, I developed what looked like Raynauds. Its a relatively common secondary condition in those with hypothyroidism, where hands and feet will turn pale and/or blue due to vasospasm, typically triggered by the cold. Needless to say, even though I knew exactly what it meant, having my fingers turn blue last night was distressing! I saw my doctor this morning, and because my hands are well oxygenated and not cyanotic, its possible that the coloring change reflects increased blood flow to my hands (as opposed to decreased which is what happens in Raynauds) with the excess blood pooling in the vessels in my hands. That would be a sign that my thyroid meds are starting to kick in. Its so frustrating when a symptom can mean either something good is happening, or something bad is happening, and we just have to watch and see. Although in this case, either way, it should go away as my thyroid meds take effect (which takes a few weeks). In the meantime, I find that walking is the best thing for it.
