Yesterday, I spoke up for what I believe in amongst a group of people that I dont know well. Those of you who know me personally will also know that this is very out of character for me--Ive always been too shy to share my thoughts with people that I am not close to. I ended up parting ways with this group not because we hold different perspectives on the matter of discussion, but because some of its members were unnecessarily antagonistic to me for standing by opinions that didnt align with theirs. It disappoints me to my very core to experience firsthand the narrow-mindedness of some of my peers. I respect and understand that there will be opinions that conflict with mine, and all I ask is a chance to debate and exchange intellectual ideas without resorting to disrespectful and defamatory name-calling. I am open to new ideas, but I will not tolerate unsolicited malignancy. Please, be respectful to one anothers points of view. At the end of the day, we ALL want a better future for Hong Kong. Our transportation may be different, but our destination is the same. I urge all of you, my friends, regardless of age or location or whatever else, to pick up a newspaper today and educate yourself on current events. Formulate your own opinion, defend it, challenge others, maybe even change your stance if you encounter ideas that make better sense to you! But PLEASE, dont just regurgitate information that someone else force-fed and brainwashed you with. Go out and LEARN, for a change. This world needs more thinkers and doers, not sheep. --> on another note, this parody is ON POINT. my thoughts exactly.
