Yesterday it was my great honour to present Part II of my current song cycle: The Bard is Not Dead! (English), consisting of translations of Lermontov poems, in Lermontovs own family home of Serednikovo, to a select audience including members of Lermontovs family. Whether it was the superb acoustics of the room, the attentiveness of the audience, the resonance of singing translations of poems that may well have been composed in the very same room, staring out of the same window that let light into our contemporary communing with the spirit of the poet, or even the Auchentoshan whisky we sipped from the ceremonial quaich, or a combination of all four, either way, I felt as though I were performing this piece for the first time! Thank you Mairi Koroleva, Alexey Popov and Ivan Dontsov, for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to pay homage to the great artist, Mikhail Yuryevitch Lermontov, who has changed my life in many ways over the past year, mainly for the better!
