Yesterday our word was “Here” today’s word is “change.” This word came to mind in partnership with yesterday’s “here.” God meets us where we are and journey’s with us as we “change” to become the men and women we desire to be and God desires us to be. Another of my favorite author’s, Thomas Merton, said these profound words about change. [I adjusted the language to be inclusive] “A person is a free being who is always changing into him or herself. This changing is never merely indifferent. We are always getting either better or worse…If our desires reach out for things that have no meaning for the growth of our spirit, if they lose themselves in dreams or passions or illusions, we will be false to ourselves and in the end our lives will proclaim that we have lied to ourselves and to others and to God…but if our desires reach out for the things that we were created to have and to make and to become, then we will develop into what we were truly meant to be.” Do you find these word challenging or encouraging or both?
