Yesterday started as a normal day, we came to ACH for a routine - TopicsExpress

Yesterday started as a normal day, we came to ACH for a routine iron infushion, dialysis clinic, meetings with our usual renal crew and we also had a routine cardiology appointment in the afternoon. We knew almost immediately that there were some concerns with Gavins heart because they ordered several tests. Gavin had an echo cardiogram done which took quite a while. Gradually several doctors and nurses gathered into the room with us. They showed us several pics of Gavins heart and it became evident to us that his heart was not functioning properly.the doctors explained to us that Gavin had a leak in one of his valves and also diagnosed him with congestive heart failure. There are many words that I dont like to hear as a mom, and failure is one of them. The doctors recommend that we begin a new medication and they told us to go home and begin dialysis and they would contact us today. Unfortunately, Gavin was very very sick last night and unable to even tolerate dialysis. I called Gavins doctor this morning and they immediately told us to get to the hospital. To make a long story short, Gavins heart is in bad shape and not compressing properly. It is pretty weak right now. They just placed a P ICC line in his arm for meds and labs. He has begun a new medication that we pray can strengthen his heart. It will be tomorrow before we know what are next steps are. For those of you that know me personally or through the prayers for Gavin page know that I love God and strive to serve Him with everything that is in me. Sometimes Im scared and I get tired and feel weak, but I always know that God is in control of all things and nothing is a surprise to Him. Id like to humbly ask for you to join me in praying for Gavin. The next couple of days are very important. Although he is considered in critical condition, we are trusting God and our phenomenal doctors to take great care of our Gavin.
