You are seeing two photos for the second time. I promised you - TopicsExpress

You are seeing two photos for the second time. I promised you Saturday evening that I would explain something very, very special. We had dined at Sauce on the Square in Downtown McKinney that evening. We knew it was to be their last night in business. Sauce was our granddaughter Ella’s (7) favorite restaurant, enough so that when she opened her pretend restaurant upstairs in their house, it was named Bella’s Sauce. You saw photos from our “dining” experience with Ella several weeks ago here, including her menu (shown here). Jump ahead to this past Saturday evening. As Sauce owner Rick Wells (who also owns the very successful Rick’s Steak and Chop House, also on the square) made his way from table to table graciously thanking everyone for turning out, he came to our table. We know Rick well, and when our son Brian told him of Ella’s devotion to Sauce, he was obviously touched. I showed him the same menu photo you’re seeing, and he snapped his fingers and said with a wink, “I know what I’m going to do. I’m going to give you one of my neon signs from the front of the store.” (See other photo.) He continued on to say that there were only three of them. He had sold one sign to a man who proposed to his wife over dinner at Sauce. Rick said he wanted to keep the third sign for himself. “The second one, Ella, I want you to have. All I want is a photo when you get it hung in your restaurant.” Brian picked the sign up today. No one could have done anything any sweeter for a wonderful little girl. She is living a dream. Thank you, Rick Wells. Thank you from the bottoms of our hearts. Rick will open Harvest, a restaurant featuring local fresh produce and meats, in the same location on the south side of the square in McKinney on September 19. Let’s all meet there!
