Y’all who come to the artists’ support group I run will recall that last month I mentioned this was in the works, for me, a tentative reunion with the sax. Which I dominated in junior high. Dominated! First Chair. Amy Damrow challenged me once and won but whatever. Bad day. I re-claimed First Chair at some point. Anyway, lately, “I’m not planning to do it in public,” I said, but then you guys were so supportive, and I was having so much fun in rehearsal, and out it came Saturday night at WineCafe Bar. The Fryes closing mini-set, electric guitar and tenor sax. And it was so good. I am not speaking for the audience; I’m telling you that it felt good to me. Point being, if you’re thinking about coming to the artists’ support group tonight 7-8:30 p.m., you should know that things you say out loud might come true and lead to great loudness and joy.
