Zilker AM Camper of The Week is... Perry Crafton! This guy is the one who is always positive at camp...hes always encouraging others...hes always putting every ounce of energy into each circuit...hes always giving feedback...hes always striving for more...hes always present at camp...hes a coachs dream! Check out Perrys experience: COTW is actually a pretty big deal to me. Lots of voices in my past have said I cant. But Im hearing I can much more, and most important, Im the one telling me that I can. Ive been pretty confident in every aspect of my life except with my body and fitness--and its been a pretty thick wall that Ive chipped away at, but today knocked a HUGE hole in that wall, and that suckers coming all the way down!! I started camp in April on a Groupon. At 42 years old, I started getting in shape for the first time in my life. My first goal was to just make it through the hour! But then it became form. I didnt care how few reps I did, I wanted to do them right. It was a slow kind of start, but I gradually saw some improvements. In 5 months: - I have gone from 10lb weights to 15lb, sometimes 20lb weights - My fit test mile has improved from 9 minutes to 7.30 - My fit test time dropped from 26 minutes to 22 - I went from only being able to do 5 push ups on my toes to 100 (just last week!) - My plank hold has increased from 45 seconds to over 3 minutes! - And the list could go on and on. Current goals: - Make the move to 20lb weights for every workout - Run the fit test mile in 7 minutes - Do the fit test in less than 20 minutes - Run a 10K My body isnt the only healthier part of me. My marriage is healthier, my career is healthier, my friendships are healthier, and my self-esteem is through-the-roof healthier!
