a Lake story… Just responded to a post by a Fishing Retailer on Facebook. The question was “Do you have any good luck charms when it comes to fishing? I guess I do. After my Father’s many surgeries, knee replacements and mini strokes and actually before that my Mother worried about “Lewie (my Father) out alone in a boat on the Lake. My Mother is a professional worrier. If there is the possibility something can go wrong she worries about it, which is why I love her so much. But back to Lewie. He had bought a small 12 green Jon boat from Sears. When we first moved back u here from Hatboro the only boats at the Lake were wooden “barges”. Impossible to take anywhere. But since in this part of Susquehanna County, PA you cannot walk more than 2 miles without hitting a pond or Lake or stream or river or just any sort of water, he wanted a mobile boat. At the time neither he or I had a vehicle that could tow a boat but there were and still are ways to put a small light Jon boat on top of a car. We got the racks and gear needed to do it and the rest was History. At a point he realized the Lake was and is some of the best fishing in this area. So the green Jon boat came here to live. In steps my Mother, binoculars were not good enough to make sure Lewie was “OK” in the boat by himself. Florescent orange reflective strips were added to the boat on the sides so that at quick glance from shore you knew where Lewie was, unless, he went behind the Island where the walkie talkies kicked in. At this point in time Lewie had both knees replaced, he would sink like a stone if he tipped or fell out of the boat. Hence the next step, a red trim fishing floatation vest. So back to the beginning of this story, the fishing vest is faded but it always goes with me in my boat. I don’t know if it is a charm but it is Lewie still fishing with me.
