a beautiful sunday in #addis. long talks with amazing women Marla Jaksch and Mihret Kebede Alwabie, who reminded me over and over again that so much is possible with will & passion & imagination. addis streets are all dug up, the city is shifting & changing beneath our feet. at romina in #aratkilo we witnessed a dirt-flying, soul-wailing cat fight. later, we got dizzy at sharomeda, our minds boggled by handwoven scarves. cool rain drizzled. then there was the blessing of a new baby, a coffee ceremony, the art of friends hung on the walls, green-painted door frames, mihret explaining her #slowmarathon, marla, a mine of brilliant of ideas. a tearful goodbye, see you later & onward, tomorrow to #hawassa in the morning, bright and early to see Crystal, Kidist, and the #LLTG ladies! alone now in the quiet hours, i still feel #zanzibar when i close my eyes. i miss home. i fall asleep to addis dogs barking, roar of distant engines, ethiopian beats beckoning me closer. im on my way!
