allenbwest/2014/09/hallelujah-god-reenlists-air-force/ Tea Party champion Allen West (Lt. Col, US Army, ret.) is a hypocritical oath breaker and a delusional disgrace to this country, and the U.S. Army. Until now, I chalked up everything he said (both good and bad) as “playing politics” to gain support, a dirty but sometimes necessary game. But now I am convinced he is everything I said above. On his own website, he openly praised the US Air Force’s recent AFI 36-2606 for removing the option for American Airmen to omit the words “so help me God” when reciting their oath for reenlistment (an option that was previously protected). Recently, an airman refused to say “so help me God”, and the USAF is refusing to accept that airman’s reenlistment. This is in direct violation of Article VI, paragraph 3 of the US Constitution, stating “no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States”, and is in violation of the religious freedoms protected in First Amendment. These are important parts of a document West swore before his God to defend and uphold. But instead of keeping to that oath, he is praising the USAF actions and claiming that the lawsuit from the AHA (American Humanist Association) on behalf of the airman is “frivolous”. Last I checked, defending the US Constitution and stopping oppression is not frivolous. (I believe he has said something similar to that before). This revision came out in October 2013, shortly after the AHA won against the USAF Academy that August, defending the rights of several USAF Cadets to omit the same words, “so help me God” in their annual oath… That’s an interesting coincidence… Despite the Academy having extensive complaints of forced religious practice, the former Lt. Col. bashed the seculars (The AHA) for their role both then and now, painting them as if they are removing morality from America. However, he completely disregards the religious freedoms protected in the Constitution by only choosing to protect the rights of those who kneel before the Abrahamic God. As I understand the Constitution, Buddhists, Taoists, Wiccans, Seculars, Native Americans who practice their traditional religions, etc… are also equally protected under the Constitution – or at least they should be. His position of protecting morality by forcing these words on people is not just unconstitutional, it is immoral. It would be just as immoral and unconstitutional to force a Christian to say “so help me Vishnu” or “Zeus”. Perhaps if the shoe were on the other foot he would change his perspective on the legitimacy of these portions of the Constitution. This isn’t up for “interpretation”. He is blatantly supporting an attack on the Constitution under his delusional version of false patriotism. This makes him an oath breaker – not just breaking an oath he made to the American people, but also an oath he made before his God. He is a disgraceful hypocrite, who apparently cares more about party politics, rather than preserving the US Constitution.
