below is a poem I wrote for my Dad a year before he passed. He would have been 93 today--No ordinary man. This is no ordinary man you see He is a husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is a retired Naval Officer from WWII He is a retired vice president of Met Life. He was the treasurer for NAMI NJ until 2009. He is highly respected and applauded for years of service. He is handsome, extremely intelligent, and charming. He’s a proud Irishman, with a bold voice of Frank Sinatra and the lilting range of Bing Crosby. He is the father of nine children 3 boys and 6 girls, and has the patience of a saint. He has supported his local Catholic Church like very few do. He is a math teacher, actuary, executive, leader, mentor, and hero. He is comical & creative, Dedicated and thorough. Kind and understanding.. He does not waste time of trivial things, but finds joy in sports, gardening, or watching a child at play. He has given all he earned, to family, church and charity. He has taken nothing for himself. He will give you a stern look if you try to pick up a check, or make an off color remark. He is somewhat proud, but his integrity and honesty is unwavering . He lives a Christ like life, giving always, expecting nothing in return. To give him recognition more than any of the fine men and woman who are his peers may disturb him, for he is a humble man. He is open minded and believes in democracy, justice, and the equality of all mankind.. But he is OUR Father, OUR husband, OUR grandfather and OUR great grandfather. In our eyes, NO ONE comes close to this man. He deserves attention, kindness, charity, and love like he has given for over 90 years For he is Bill Dice No ordinary man. .
