#dadupdate So after a successful swallow test this morning, Dad had nearly one hour of physical and occupational therapy. He sat up at the side of his bed for more than 30 minutes. Sat upright while his LVAD dressing was changed. Thats significant, too. Then he stood in the Stand Assist device for the second day in a row. He lasted for about five minutes this time. He stood much more upright today. He was able to hold his head upright for a much longer time today, too. Mom arrived just in time to watch Dads nurse change the dressing at the LVAD exit site (a sterile procedure that will need to be done every other day for the rest of his life). That was the first time she has been able to observe the procedure. And then she got to watch him stand, helped up by Kathy and Dale, the OT and PT. Moms face lit up as she watched Dad. She was so happy. And so was I, happy that I was fortunate to be there and see it.
