As Marx is based on Hegel, it presupposes an understanding of that phenominally difficult body of work, particularly the Phenomenology renowned world wide as the most difficult book of philosophy ever. This is why I write my political and ecomic essyays in manageable chunks which, for the most part, can be read by a high school grad. The cliques of pretenders cannot arise because anyone who has actually read the work can see through the pretense. Neither communism nor capitalism represent a free market. The former favors a never ending lowering of the bar of collective mentality, and the latter favors predatory, bottom-line thinking that pretends that profit is the sole measure of meeting supply and demand. Neither communism nor capitalism cares about a proper supply for a true demand nor the quality of goods, services, and labor. The founding fathers understood that a free market economy and laissez-faire still requires the regulation of predation (capitalism) and collective, poor thinking (communism). ... and to support the notion that all a democracy needs is an informed electorate. To what degree? Some say sixth grade. I tend to aim at high school grads but would be happy to acquiesce to that position if I were more informed on the curricula to that grade At the time of Marx us democracy was still referred to as the American Experiment and the monarchies and aristocracies did not believe that any electorate could effectively choose leaders. The focus on good public education is designed to put the lie to such notions. Current attempts by the GOP to defund public education is actually an admission that good public education does indeed lead to an effective electorate and is a definite threat to the growing aristocracy. Marx simply could not conceive of an effective electorate and had no confidence in the American experiment or in democracy. He never met uncle Verne. fascism grew up primarily as a reaction to growing socialist forces and focused on a new aristocracy ( a new bourgoise) rather than on the establishment of the peasantry as a new larger elite that would eliminate the aristocracy. Racial superiority and the big lie were as much an attempt to befuddle a confused and hostile peasantry as delusions on the part of the leaders. The attacks on public education and the dept of educ are conscious efforts on the part of the growing aristocracy to further solidify that aristocracy and further befuddle the middle and lower classes The cocept of "manipulating markets" in a free market would only exist as the criminality of both communism and capitalism. French for plug? Marx.
