in 1896 M.K.Gandhi (27), was to speak at a public meeting in Bombay. Pherozeshah Mehta, (the Lion of Bombay) asked him for a copy of the speech the previous evening. Gandhi said said he would speak extempore. Mehta said it would not do as the press in Bombay would not get it right without a text copy. Gandhi stayed up all night and got it ready but was could not read it well with a soft voice. Dishaw Edulji Wacha read it with the crowd paying rapt attention. The speech was a hit even if the original speaker was not....
