ok...math question for you math wizzes out there.... The problem is: 0.5(x+30)-0.02(x-20)=0.7 Step 1 (Distribution): 0.5x + 15 - 0.02x + 0.4 = 0.7 Step 2 (combining like terms): .48x + 15.4 = 0.7 Step 3 (subtracting indifferent terms to balance): .48x = -14.7 Step 4 (Answer): x = -30.625 Step 5 (Verify): 0.5( -30.635 + 30 ) - 0.02 ( -30.625 - 20 ) = 0.7 First off, is this the correct answer? Cause when I input it into the TI-84 calculator, it told me that YES, -30.625 substituted into the X-value would balance the equation. Secondly, if the answer is correct, then Valencia Online math is wrong. According to Google, the answer is 0.695, which in pretty much any math, is 0.7, right? Statistics, its close enough.... Its only got a deviation of 0.05, which is IMMENSELY small.... Did I miss something here? A step, a distribution? an addition or subtraction? A division somewhere? I dont understand...
