s 3-story brick building, originally known as General Wadsworth School No. 12, was built on Clinton Avenue between Marshall and Howell Streets in 1899. The east side of the building faced Wadsworth Square (see rpf01348 and m0000346) and the courtyard opened west towards Clinton Avenue. The buildings courtyard and skylight features brought adequate light to all the classrooms. After the school closed in 1932, the building was used by a series of government agencies. When this photo was taken in 1950, the building housed the City of Rochesters Health Bureau and Department of Public Welfare. At that time, the courtyard space, accessible via Clinton Avenue, was used for off-street parking.
